The 14 Major Allergens

Cereals Containing Gluten
Wheat, rye, barley, and oats. Found in bread, pasta, cereals, baked goods, and many sauces.

Milk
From all animals. Found in cheese, butter, yoghurt, cream, and many processed foods.

Eggs
From all bird types. Found in baked goods, mayonnaise, pasta, and coatings.

Peanuts
A legume, not a tree nut. Found in sauces, desserts, and snacks. One of the most common severe allergy triggers.

Tree Nuts
Almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, and more. Found in desserts, oils, and spreads.

Soyabeans
Found in tofu, miso, soy sauce, and many processed foods. Used widely in vegetarian and vegan products.

Fish
Finned fish, fish oils, and caviar. Found in sauces, dressings, and many Asian dishes.

Crustaceans
Crabs, lobster, prawns, and scampi. Often a trigger for severe reactions.

Molluscs
Mussels, snails, squid, and oysters. Found in seafood dishes and some sauces.

Sesame
Found in bread, crackers, hummus, tahini, and many Asian and Middle Eastern dishes.

Mustard
In liquids, powders, and seeds. Often a hidden allergen not obvious by sight, taste, or smell.

Celery
Stalks, leaves, seeds, and root (celeriac). Often hidden in stocks, soups, and sauces.
🌸
Lupin
Often found in bread, pastries, and pasta. Related to peanuts those with peanut allergies may also react.

Sulphur Dioxide and Sulphites
Used as preservatives in wine, dried fruit, and processed foods. Declared when present above 10 ppm.
